Sugar Factory: My favourite tea room in Madrid.

Hello, everyone!

Where have I been this February? Have I been abducted by aliens? You wish!
No, actually, I am back home after our holiday in Spain to see friends and family. This was a truly special trip, as my sister and brother-in-law came all their way from Japan to visit us and surprise my parents, but that´s a different story I might tell you later.

For now I am going to let you know The Gentle One and I took the chance to stay in Madrid for a couple of nights. We like to spend some time there once in a while, and generally we use that extra spare time visiting museums, eating good food or simply having a walk through our favourite places.

Blogmas Day 2: My favourite comfort tea.

Hi everyone and welcome to day 2 of Blogmas!

Today I wanted to share the first of the Christmassy themed posts, and I thought I could talk to you about my absolute seasonal comfort tea. Now, I know for most people it is all about comfort food (and I do enjoy that, because honestly, who doesn´t?), but as years go by I realized I am more a kind of "comfort tea person": when I am having a bad day, or feeling poorly, I tend to drink a cup of tea rather than eat something. And believe it or not, it usually helps a lot.

Reasons why October is my favourite month

A few days ago someone sent me a non-very kind message through social media.
To sum up, this person implied I don´t really like Autumn and, by following its logics, nobody does, because the season is just gloomy, ugly and cold. Also, the only reason I told so is to look "trendy", because well, now Fall is...
Whatever the reason this person had to send me this message (which I suposse it was a moody day, a bad digestion or a mixture of both things, only Heaven knows...) the point is, some people can´t see the world from a different perspective than theirs. If they don´t enjoy Autumn/Winter/wearing black colour on a glorious July day (whatever basically) nobody can.
Isn´t that sad?

So I thought I could explain why October is my favourite month of the year.
I don´t really mean to make this person to change its mind, and obviously I need no justification, but I believe it is beautiful to share personal impressions and opinions so as this is my blog:
here you have mine.

First outfit of the year.

Outfit rundown: shirt - Spin Doctor (previously featured here) / jumperskirt - custom made / headband - DIY.

One thing I hate about after-holiday is the feeling of boredom.
Somehow, it looks like everybody agrees that once the Winter break is over, there is no room for fun on daily life. Most people takes all the beauty of the season (bright colours, parties, elegance and anything vaguely interesting), put it on a chest, and throws the key until next year. That´s it. No more excitement ´till next December.
I never understood that kind of attitude, to be honest.

Ok, yes, I KNOW we all feel a bit depressed after holiday (or VERY depressed, if like me, you must spend two hours a day in your way to work) but I´ve always thought that part of this seasonal depression comes from the perspective of no-partying-at-all we all get caught in. I hate that. I mean, raise your hand if you do think that the world is a place gloomy enough without all that "fun is over" attitude.
EXACTLY.

What I did in October

I found myself checking the calendar this morning just to get amazed about how quickly November is going by.
Yes, I know I mention this on a monthly basis, but I can't avoid a certain feeling of loss when I am busy. It looks like time behaves like water running through my hands.
There is a couple of specific reasons for this making me feel a bit stressed, but I will be coming to it later.
In any case, as November is almost over, my electronic agenda rang again to remind me it is time to write about what I did last month.
 There we go!

Nibble, nibble, gnaw, Who is nibbling at my little house?

I don´t know about you guys, but there is something on Victorian houses (specially on little Victorian houses) that makes me think of fairy tales. To be specific, of Hansel & Gretel
I mean, yes, I know the witch lived by herself on a chocolate house,
NOT on a Victorian house. Nevertheless, my childish imagination tended
to picture a little cute Victorian house hidden in the forest. I don´t know why exactly was that, but I suppose my grandma´s 1860 house built on the edge
of the woods had something to do with it.
Of course there was nothing "witchy" about my grannie (nothing of the wicked witch type, anyway). However, for some reason, her house resembled the
candy house and since that moment, every little Victorian house reminds me of
fairy tales.

Victorian deviations

One of my favourite deviations hobbies consists on looking for places where I can sit, have a good cup of tea, and pretend I am the first beta-tester for a time machine prototype to be successfully transported to some point between 1900 and 1929. Well, yes, that can be considered a little weird, but you weren´t expecting anything different from me, were you?

Five O´clock Tea at Phileas Fogg´s place

This has been a very long and nice weekend.
The type in which you make so many things that at the end it looks it has lasted ages.
On Friday afternoon, The Gentle One and I decided to spend the day together as on Saturday I was busy by developing a second brain plus a second pair of arms in order to organize and attend a Lolita meetup in Bucharest (but that´s another story... and I´ll be telling later).

Late Christmas Loot (second edition)

It begins to look like a tradition to me posting about my Christmas presents when the new year has already begun.
But you know, I´m the kind of person who spends the holiday jumping from one to another, so planning a proper blog entry during Christmas is actually difficult.
So here I am again this year, merrily showing my Yule loot to you in the first fortnight of January.
I hope you enjoy it!

Small vices (and some afternoon tea)

First goes first, so Happy New Year everyone.
I hope you all had a memorable day accompanied by your beloved ones.
The last few days of the year have been a relaxing balm of happiness to me and my partner as long as we decided to leave stress behind a have a good time together.
These pictures are an illustrative example of it.
