Budapest in October

Hello everyone!

As you probably know if you´re following me via Twitter or Instagram, I am not dead.

However, it´s been a couple, of crazy months during which The Gentle One and I managed to move to another city, find a brand new apartment and job positions, all in a row.  Those periods are quite usual in our lives, due to our professional choices and careers, and although they can be very exciting, they can also drag all the energy out of us. In my case, that usually means a drastic reduction of my spare time, and most consequently, less time for blogging. But fortunately, I am starting to get used to my new routine, so blogging can be finally back for good

Now, in October we had a short city break in Hungary, as my husband had some professional affairs to attend in there.

Cities in dust

There is something undeniably ghostly about cities in Summer. They always acquire a certain desolated look, due to the vast space left empty by people absence. However, that´s am scenario I love, as my vivid imagination tends to portray a post-apocalyptic landscape (the image of a metropolis after vampire consumption, or maybe once the zombie plague is over. The tons of lovely movie scenes you could set in here...)

The Paris Diaries: This is Versailles!

Last night I was checking my blog archives when I suddenly realized there were two Paris posts left on my drafts file! For some reason (and most likely due to the big agitation my life was wrap on last Autumn) I totally forgot to hit the publish button at some point. So for today I thought it could be nice to share those with you, as I suppose nobody gets too annoyed about a travel review full of beautiful pictures.

To sum up, the next chapter of my Paris diaries was written during our third day in France, back in the end of  September. We wouldn´t spend it in the city, but we traveled to Versailles instead. It was a memorable day for us both, as this had been one of our dream destinations for... well, FOREVER. We´re both truly interested on history since our high school days: The Gentle One is specifically fascinated about the Golden Age period all over Europe (this is his PHD topic, actually), so he craved for visiting the place where Louis XIV started the French empire. As for me, I am very fond of the French monarchy decadence and the country revolutionary process all through the XVIII and XIX centuries.
We´re such a couple of boring and pedant people, right?
I know, sorry about that.

Whatever, this is the little tale we wrote about our trip.
I hope you like it!

Blogmas Day 13: A christmassy give away.

Welcome back to Blogmas!

As I mentioned in my previous post, I was feeling a bit sick for a couple of days at the end of the week, but I am happy to say I am better now. It is nice to be back! To celebrate I am happily keeping my Blogmas event alive in spite of mishaps (and feeling quite festive in general) today I want to announce the official opening of my little christmassy give away!

The Paris diaries: Stendhal Syndrome and Truffaut films.

Following with my Paris honeymoon blog series, I bring you the second chapter of our French diaries. This episode is full of museum, pretty paintings and waves of inconvenient Stendhal Syndrome.
I hope you enjoy it!

The Paris diaries: famous book stores, gothic cathedrals and how not to panick on board.

A bunch of days before our flight departed to France, The Gentle One and I had a funny idea: in order to keep as many of our honeymoon trip memories alive, wouldn´t be nice to write them down as they happened? I mean, not LITERALLY as they happened (because that would mean stopping every five minutes in the middle of some busy Paris street to write about remarkable things, which would be weird even for us...) but at the end of the day, while memories did still fresh enough.
And so we did! For five days we both did our best to put our grain of sand on our travelling diary.
Sometimes we won, sometimes we failed. But the important thing is we collected many beautiful and hilarious moments I can now share with you. Of course there are some very personal in that journal I can´t write in here, you see, but even so I hope you enjoy the rest of it. (Please, notice that the original journal was writen in Spanish, so I will try my best to translate the precise expressions. Excuses in advance for any idiomatic innacurancy).

So here you go:

Back home.

Hi everyone!
I am glad to say we are safe back home after our honeymoon holiday.
Both, the wedding and the trip were wonderful and we couldn´t be happier in this moment.
It´s kind of strange everything is gone now, specially after so many months preparing every single detail. Also, as I briefly mentioned on Instagram, returning to our apartment has been kind of bitter-sweet, as we found our wedding day remaining flowers now drying and fading, together with the little ton of memories everywhere we need to collect and storage properly once we find the time to do it. Anyway, I am glad to say while I am writting this I am happily married!

Snapshots of my Easter week.

Last month I terribly failed at my monthly round-up, so I decided it could be nice to make some sort of little week summary in exchange. I actually like the idea of taking random pictures all along the week/month and share them with you. Somehow, they are a nice little testimony of life, and although I am not a great photographer (and most impressions were just captured with my phone during  spontaneous moments) I think is beautiful to treasure them.
So here you go: some random images of my Easter holiday week.
Just for your eyes!

Cerralbo museum

During my stay in Spain I had little or no time to post about my holiday adventures.
As a result, I realized there is a lot I didn´t tell you!
Yeah, you probably don´t really care that much because... well, because after all is just other people´s holiday and has been a long time since Christmas was over.
But even so, I thought it could be worthy to write a bit about the best of it. That´s part of the blogging fun, isn´t it?

When we first arrived to Madrid last December, The Gentle One asked me to go with him
and visit a place which, in his own words, "you won´t probably like too much".
And as weird as it sounded, I thought he was actually craving to see some place he enjoyed, but where I would have a not-that-amusing time.
Yes, you know how it is when you love someone: sometimes you have to make concessions. LOVE. Right.

Late Christmas loot (third edition)

It´s being a while, but I am back from my Spanish Christmas holiday (which consisted on
tons of social interaction, and food too. Actually, it also consisted on tons of drugs against influenza, but that´s a far less interesting story unless you enjoy fever & chills horror stories), and this means I am back to upload about my latest adventures too. Althought it´s been a while since Christmas Day, I thought following my old January tradition would be ok.
I already told you about my festive season presents back in 2013 and 2014, and for some reason people looked to like those, so I decided to go ahead this year.

This year higlights

My calendar reminded me it is time for another monthly round-up this week, but for December I thought it could be interesting to forget about my last month adventures and simply talk about this year´s highlights instead.

And gosh, this year has gone by so quickly!
I can´t believe 2014 is almost over and we are getting ready for 2015. The truth is I can´t actually complain about it, as this has been a very positive period for me. Of course there are some little things I would like to have solved better, but today I want to focus on all the other small good moments and share them with you.
My 2014 highlights have been...

Welcome to Narnia

Well, well, well, it looks like Christmas are around the corner.
You can feel it in the air (or you can simply enter any shop, where seasonal goodies have been around for a whole month now, which is kind of CRAZY).
Personally, the main sign for me is the end of this semester professional duties.
Yes, darlings, I am pleased to say I am officialy on holiday!
On Friday evening I threw my boring office clothing, embraced comfy clothes, favourite tea and good book. And then next morning, we put up our Christmas tree.
This is the first year we decorate the house with actual snow outside. I have no words to explain how christmasy it feels the first time!
For me, it was like finding suddenly finding myself in Narnia.

The Dresden files

Due to the lack of new weekly adventures and spare time for job reasons lately, I´ve had a hard time to post here.
Nevertheless, I could find a little gap to write this post earlier today, and want to share with you the continuation of my European tour saga, featuring Dresden and Karlovy Vary in this ocassion.

Plague on Prague

Unfortunately, good things do not last forever and of course Summer holidays are not a exception.
After a deserved three weeks break, today was my first day back to work (and the messy real world), so I thought bringing you some more impressions about my trip would probably improve my mood. So here you have the second part of my European tour series, featuring Prague this time.

Viena, baby

Hi everyone! I am back after a week of exhaustive and unforgettable travelling.
My European tour consisted on a crazy roadtrip, including: Budapest-Vienna-Prague-Dresden-Karlovy Vary-Konopiste-Brno-Bratislava-Budapest, so as you can figure out I am less than a shadow of myself at the moment. Nevertheless, it was TOTALLY worthy, and I can´t see the moment of travelling abroad again!

The world is not enough

The hourglass sand has been falling specially slowly this month.
Do you remember when you were a child and the first day for school holiday seemed reluctant to arrive?

Things I did this month

Considering my recent lack of activity here, I am quite sure it won´t be a total surprise for you if I tell that I´ve been pretty busy this month, mainly due to professional reasons. But well, that´s what adult life is made of.
Even so, I found some spare time to spend by doing things I could enjoy.
Here you have a little summary of my life lately, hope you enjoy it!

Landing in the UK

"With great power, comes great responsibility".
That´s what I normally keep in mind whenever I am taking a flight. Why?
Well, I might actually have an shocking secret to share with you, darlings: I am a super-hero.

Camden Town Haul

I am finally back home after a very exciting (and also exhausting) weekend.
There are lots of good memories as well as tons of pictures, but those need some time to be processed, so I thought I could start telling you about the trip by showing my shopping haul.

Next destination: London

The time I´ve been waiting for, since I received my special Christmas gift, has finally arrived.
Enchanted event will be run this weekend!
That means three hundred Lolitas from the European continent meeting on a Victorian luxury hotel to watch fashion parades, have tea, take pictures, and of course make some serious shopping.
And specially, it means I will be boarding to London.

On Friday I´ll land there to spend the weekend with my friends (I miss them so much! They were my family during my UK stay), and after Saturday convention we´ll be able to enjoy some quality time together. And well, let´s admit it, Camden Town too

So everything is packed now and I hope I´ll have a bunch of good stories to tell you when I am back.
Lots of love meanwhile, see you soon!
