First outfit of the year.

Outfit rundown: shirt - Spin Doctor (previously featured here) / jumperskirt - custom made / headband - DIY.

One thing I hate about after-holiday is the feeling of boredom.
Somehow, it looks like everybody agrees that once the Winter break is over, there is no room for fun on daily life. Most people takes all the beauty of the season (bright colours, parties, elegance and anything vaguely interesting), put it on a chest, and throws the key until next year. That´s it. No more excitement ´till next December.
I never understood that kind of attitude, to be honest.

Ok, yes, I KNOW we all feel a bit depressed after holiday (or VERY depressed, if like me, you must spend two hours a day in your way to work) but I´ve always thought that part of this seasonal depression comes from the perspective of no-partying-at-all we all get caught in. I hate that. I mean, raise your hand if you do think that the world is a place gloomy enough without all that "fun is over" attitude.
EXACTLY.

No, I am not telling you to ignore all your responsibilities and jump to the first crazy adventure you can imagine. After all, we are not living inside Alice in Wonderland (what a pity...). But I believe there is space enough in our lives for both, duties and fantasy, so I try to add a pinch of salt to everyday. It´s not that difficult if you think it, you just need to spend some little time indulging yourself with a pleasurable activity:
reading a book, watching a film, having a small walk, cooking something you like...
I am sure you get it.

This week, I was feeling a bit sad and grey myself after coming back from Spain.
When I realized I had no real reason to have such a negative reaction, I started focusing on the details, and once again I perceived I don´t really need that much to be happy.
So on Sunday morning I dressed up a bit like Alice Kingsleigh and prepared my own Mad Hatter´s tea at home with The Gentle One, who is always glad to eat some chocolate cupcakes and watch some crazy movies with me while discussing a bit about nonsense.
Because who says you need to act like a boring adult everyday?

So tell me darlings, how do you fight post-vacation blues?

  1. Since I didn't have a christmasvacation, life is all the same to me ;) but I do miss all the cozy christmasstuff with lights and music! So when I took down christmas I kept all my light trails up so it wouldn't be so dark.

Your outfit is lovely! I adore the combination black and red.

  3. I know what you mean about the fun is over attitude after Christmas, I definitely didn't get up to much after Christmas, first there is a period of rest, but then you start feeling a bit bored, and have to start planning to get out there again! I am starting to make plans with friends again. Ah, if only I wasn't melting from the hot weather, I guess it's similar over there, the cold weather making people not want to leave the house! Maybe you could invite friends over for a tea party.

    1. Yes, I know what you mean about the weather. That´s an important factor when it comes to meeting people, actually.
For instance, one month ago I booked on a tea shop for a meetup and had to cancel because it was simply too cold for everybody to go. That made me feel quite sad, actually, as I don´t really care about those issues in normal conditions. But I like you idea about a home meetup. Maybe that´s what I need!

  4. You look beautiful, as always! I'm always sad when Christmas is over, but that's mainly because it's the only time I get to see my family and January is full of university assignments for me this year! It will be strange to have a nice relaxing January next year when I have finished my studies.

    1. I can tell you it´s quite nice not to take exams after the break, haha. Nonetheless, most of us also hae to go back to work, which can as annoying and stressful as going back to college.

  5. I love this dress on you sweetie! You look lovely in red; I know your favourite colour is violet, but red fits you so well!
Of course you should be happy, why shouldn't you, this year will be worth remembering I'm sure! <3
