Blogmas 2016: week 1

Happy December, everyone! ❄️

I am still amazed by the fact it is the last month of the year already. However, I am very glad Christmas is here, as it is my favourite festive season, so far. This year, I have less spare time than last December, and although I can´t make a daily post, I don´t want to stop enjoying Blogmas. So my solution is to post at least once a week this month, with a little sum-up of the main events, and holiday activities.

These were some of the highlights of our first Christmas week. I hope you enjoy the reading!

❄️ 1. The opera tickets.

Last Friday The Gentle One and I went out for a coffee, and took the chance to buy our tickets for the New Years Eve show at the Opera House. As I mentioned before, I love going to concerts and musical stravagganza during the Christmas season. So after careful consideration between several option, we decided to go to watch Oneguin  this year. Oneguin is one of our forever favourite Russian works, and I am glad this is our first live opera. I will tell you more about our experience when the time comes, for sure!

❄️ 2. The outfit that didn´t make it.

Also, on Saturday we finally managed to watch the so-long-awaited Fantastic Beasts. We usually have a cinema date every weekend, and tend to take the opportunity to make it special by wearing our best frocks (you know how difficult it can be when you´re proper adults holding boring adult schedules during week/working days, don´t you?). I thought about using my handmade bolero and striped dress, but the weather did not agree, so I ended up wearing something much more cozy and boring. Anyway, we enjoyed the movie A LOT, which was the main point.

❄️ 3. BBC´s Six Wives with Lucy Worsley.

This week has been really cold and cloudy, so most of the time was spent at home. An acquaitance recommended this brand new documentary at BBC1, and considering I am literally obsessed with the Tudor period, this was truly alluring. The first episode was very interesting and nicely produced, so I am looking forward to watch the next one.

So tell me darlings, what have you been into this week?

    1. I totally agree about Lucy! I didn´t know her before, and it was only because of this recommendation from a colleague that I came to learn about her work. She is such a talented and funny communicator. I think she owns this rare ability to make history an attractive topic, so everyone can learn something.

  2. I love the colours in your outfit, but it's better to keep warm than freeze no matter how good it looks! I'm hoping during Xmas vacation I'll be able to go see Fantastic Beasts with the youngest. It looks good. :)

    1. Fantastic Beasts is such a fun and delightful adventures film! As with the HP movie, I felt the first one was more "youth" oriented, but I believe the next one will be darker and more serious in tone. However, this chapter is well built (you can really feel Rowling´s work on the original script), as well as it owns a deeply sweet and positive message. A very recommendable fantasy film, for sure!

    1. Same applies to me. I´ve been in live opera just once before, but it was as a member of the theater staff during my student years (I used to work as a hostess once in a while), so I missed most of it while performing my duties. This is the first time I am going to the opera as a proper spectator, and I am very excited about it.
