Cities in dust

There is something undeniably ghostly about cities in Summer. They always acquire a certain desolated look, due to the vast space left empty by people absence. However, that´s am scenario I love, as my vivid imagination tends to portray a post-apocalyptic landscape (the image of a metropolis after vampire consumption, or maybe once the zombie plague is over. The tons of lovely movie scenes you could set in here...)

Every year, we spend most of Summer in town, as we do enjoy this vision. Nonetheless, we have been visited by my youngest sister, which made July a bit less contemplative and much more active (oh, the endless energy of youth!) Our days have been full of long walks, good and bad films, museum incursions and day trips to the Water Park (yes, as I write this, I am shocked by the subtle honey colour my pale skin has adopted this month despite the fact I always wear 50 SFP, AND double shocked about the fact it looks good! Who knew?! Not me, anyway...)

Outfit rundown:  dress - Lindy Bop /  necklace: Brigitte Bijou / shoes - custom made by a friend / bag- Tokyo gift from my sister / stocking - Pamela Mann / cardigan: thrift shop.

My plans for the rest of the month are just chilling up as much as possible. August, on the other hand, will be a bit more stressful due to the Herculean task of finding a new apartment both The Gentle One and I like, as we´re moving to the North part of the country late September. But that´s a different story, and it will be told on a different time.

So tell me darlings, how are is your July treating you so far? Any exciting plans for the Summer?

  1. You look beautiful - the honey glow certainly suits you!

No exiting plans for me I am afraid - well, there is wedding planning, however the excitement wore out a long time ago. Who knew it could be so stressful? Never again :)

    1. Oh, my! I totally get the wedding preparations stress. I married last Autumn, and at the end I was so exhausted, I couldn´t even feel nervous, haha. But I am sure it is exciting, isn´t it?

And thank you, you´re very kind! ♥

  2. July has been busy here but it's winter here and I usually go out more when it's not too hot! I subtly tan too but not so most people would notice. The honey colour is a good description!

    1. You´re so lucky to be experiencing Winter, Laura! It´s been suffocating here for the past two months, and although I like good Sunny day, I´m getting totally sick of the weather. I need chill foggy nights back already! So looking forward for Autumn to come.

  3. Desolate cities in summer? Oh my, talk about envy! Whenever summer hits Poland, there always are triple more people in the streets, you can't peacefully stroll through the streets, because there's always tons of folk. It's exhausting, to say the least.
Ahh, living in Transylvania :D Can't wait for your impressions of the region and upcoming trips :) Good luck to you!

    1. Oh, jeez! I can´t possibly imagine how stressing must be dealing with both crowds and hot weather at the same time. I love the fact that Bucharest goes empty for most of the Summer. I feel really blessed about it!

Aw, and thank you so much for your good wishes! I´m truly excited about the adventures to come!

  4. Your outfit is pretty, even my husband commented when he saw you, haha :D

I don't really have any plans. I work a lot so. Maybe we will do something special in autumn instead.

So sorry to hear you´re having a very busy Summer at work, I know how hard is that (I personally hate to work while others are having fun, I must admit), but it is wonderful you are able to enjoy Autumn properly. I hope to see lots of Fall posts coming from you!

But yes, some days it would be fun to be outside hanging with friends instead.

  5. Inverness gets filled with tourists every summer and Glasgow and Edinburgh are humming with people all year 'round! No peace for me in cities during summer. I love the photographs - especially how the grey skies make it seem more ghostly. Beautiful old architecture too!

    1. Oh, my, how much I feel you. I used to live in a city packed with university students in Winter and mass of tourists in Summer, so now I can totally appreciate a bit of seasonal calm.

Regarding architecture, Bucharest is spectacular. A very peculiar mix between Belle-époque style and decadent communist ruins. A lovely place if you like big contrast on the urban landscape, indeed. The building in the pictures is the Militar Circle (a 19th century building which used to work as the interior affairs ministery a hundred years ago or even earlier). I think you would love it here!
