Tonya, can you play the balalaika?

When I first read about Sophistique Noir´s month event being outwear, I inmediately thought it was the perfect ocassion to show my new Russian countess cape to you.
As I told you before, I received it on Christmas Day and, as long as it was a very expensive item, I did not expect it at all.
BUT I was a nice girl and Santa decided to pet me a bit.
Good for me!

So I persuaded The Gentle One to go out (in this cold weather!) and take some pictures.
In my mind the plan sounded great: a white landscape and the gorgeous buildings at Univesity Square. I suppose I had an idyllic image on my head derived from the approximate two hundred times I watched Doctor Zhivago.
I do love everything about that film: the music, the actors, the dialogues, the setting.
EVERYTHING.
I was so glad that I totally forgot about two little things: the fact we had never taken pictures in the snow before and, well, the snow itself.
As you can imagine, the shoot quickly became a bunch of snow/ice sliding, half-closed eyes to avoid excessive light, freezy air stiring my hair and red nose.
Not very poetic. Not very Zhivago.

Cape: Marks & Spencer /  Bag: New Yorker /

  Gloves: H&M/
   Boots: New Yorker

Seriously, you don´t know how deeply I admirate now all those bloggers out there taking pictures of themselves in the snow. They are superheroes!
And well, as for my own pictures, The Gentle One turned out to be my own hero again.
I can´t believe he patiently stood in the snow for fifteen minutes taking pictures while I was complaining about the cold.
Heaven blesses anonymous saints.
Now, if you want to participate at Sophistique noir event, you are still having time.
Just link in the banner below and let the world know what you wear to fight the winter.

    1. It´s not easy to find beautiful outwear, is it? That´s the reason I loved this one so much, I think it looks great whatever you want to coordinate it :)

  4. That coat is amazing! Big, cosy and beautiful :) Your rosy nosetip is very accurate for the pictures, I beleive. It must have been very cold that day.

    1. It was SO cold, well, or at least I felt it very cold (minus 15 starts being a bit too much for me). I could have looked much worser actually, but The Gentle One is a good (and very pacient!) photographer...

  5. Hi there!
Your new cape is gorgeous! And it looks sooo cozy... You must have been such a good girl this year.
It reminds me of my own cape, though mine doesn't have those lovely cuffs. I recovered it last week from the closet, and since it is so damn cold here it worked very well for Saturday's night. I had forgotten how nice it feels when you look like a little bat...

I know snow can be pretty messy but you have to love the fun parts of it! I specially miss the cracking under your feet. Anyway, a little red nose was worth the pictures, I'm sure ^___^

    1. What I love the most about capes is that "bat" feeling you spoke about ♥ Besides, they always looks anachronistic and smart, so they are a day saviour if you want to look pretty without big amounts of effort!

And snow is lovely though I need time to get used to it :)

  12. This is AMAZING! That cape looks as if it was made for you. I'm so glad you decided to share it as part of the February theme.

I've always been in awe over how some models can stand in a snowy landscape, often in very NON-warm clothing, and look so composed and perfect. I would have a red nose, runny eyes, chapped lips, goose bumps, and frizzy hair. lol! You still look fabulous, especially considering it was your first effort in such an environment - I bet with some practice you could achieve some amazing snowy portraits.

Shockingly, I've never seen Doctor Zhivago. I will have to consult Netflix and see if I can get my hands on a copy to view. :)
