Every year around May Bucharest celebrates the East-European Comic Con which, as the name implies, it is the most important fan event in this side of the continent. I´ve been regularly attending for three years, as I do enjoy a good dose of video games, graphic novels, role games, and fantasy/horror/sci-fi movie screening. For a long time now, I´ve felt fascinated about cosplay too and I attend the official contest to admire all those wonderful cosplayers every single time. However, as I am quite a shy person, I never had the balls to go as any of my favourite characters to the event itself. I always start planning things, but one way or another I always find an excuse to procratinate on the dress making process, and eventually I always give up...
This year, however, I thought the best way to stop being afraid is not to put too much pressure on myself and just having fun, so I don´t panic at the very last minute (and I mean literally panicking, with the kind of social anxiety that may actually cause an agoraphobic attack, as it has happened a couple of times now). So instead of starting a very elaborate project and potentially feeling overwhelmed, I will wear a toned down version of my own HP universe character, something I feel easy and comfortable.
Basically, my idea is to put together all the little handmade pieces I could find at home, and become a Slytherin witch! As a matter of fact, I am a Ravenclaw at heart, but I own so many emerald green pieces, I thought it would be a lot easier to put something together for the occasion. I will be wearing my own DIY Empire waist dress, my magic wand, a handmade green bow, and a pretty green emerald necklace I just found last evening (instead of the ones I am wearing in the pictures). It is nothing too pretentious, but a simple idea.
I would like to introduce you all to Miss Sybille Wintergrass, a member of a distant branch of the Greengrass family (considered by some the 29th sacred pure blood linage, and only left behind by Cantakerus Nott due to its half-French origins). Miss Sybille decided to break the family tradition by attending Hogwarts instead of Beauxbatons, where she was selected for Slytherin, due to her natural interest for poisons and forbidden grimoires.
During the Second Wizarding War, the whole clan moved to Switzerland, where they remained neutral. Sybille resumed her interrupted studies with several tutors, including a couple of wizards belonging to the dark Grindelwald family. Once war was over, they returned to their manor house in the Lake District. By then the young witch was able to find an internship at the Great Magic Arts Library, where she worked and learned about grimoires conservation with a focus on poisonous herbology compendiums. Afterwards, she opened her own book shop at Knockturn Alley, where many tell she sells not only manuals, but also the most subtle potions ever made...
I love your character's name and story! I get really stressed planning social occasions, too, especially if there will be strangers! Good job making it!
ResponderEliminarThank you a lot, Laura, that´s very kind from you! ♥
EliminarI know what you mean by fearing strangers. I am mostly an "indoors person", so I frequently go overwhelmed by other people, specially in crowded events. However, I am very willing to make an exception this time and have the best of the times.
Your look is flawless!
ResponderEliminarI am a Buffy girl forever :)
Oh, thank you very much! It is truly appreciated.
EliminarBuffy was my absolutely favourite horror comedy in the 90´s! So fresh and funny!
You look completely lovely, Miss Wintergrass!
ResponderEliminarI enjoy all the Potter books/films, but I do love Doctor Who ♥
Thank you, Winter Moon, you are very nice! ♥
EliminarI have never given a chance to Doctor Who, although both my sisters are big fans. What season would you recommend to start with?
You are the so talented when it comes to sewing darling! I love that dress! It would fit right into the Harry Potter universe! <3
