Botanic garden

Look twice at this picture: it´s me, on a sundress AND ponytails!
How this hapenned? As a standard rule I don´t wear sundresses or ponytails at all.
In my homeland the weather is not that warm in the Summer with the exception of one or two weeks a year, so I basically limited my hot season options to average fabrics and full length hair over there. Indeed, I had never needed to wear the classic cotton maxi dress back in the north of Spain.

But here in Bucarest, OMG. We are speaking about another type of heat, specifically the heat of the south in Spain or the north of Morocco. Seriously, melting under the sun is a tradition here.
At some point decided I seriously had to start thinking on updos and sundresses, and here I am, as a new holiday version of the old Violette.

This Sunday morning we payed a visit to the botanic garden of the city, consequently I activated my new warm weather strategy and wore the gorgeous (and very light) Hell Bunny dress I got in London back in April, which was pretty much the best idea ever: it was 28 grades when we reached the gardens early in the morning, and I don´t want to imagine how bad it could had been even on a Spring dress...  On the other hand, there were many ladies around hot and sticky on jeans while glancing unpolitely at me and I have no idea if this was due to my look, or just the fact I wasn´t baking on my own clothes like them.
Anyway, I had no more melting, just fun.

There is something really peaceful about gardens and parks, specially if they are this well conserved.
They are just the perfect place to relax and forget about stress. Plus, the scent of the plants and flowers always makes me evocate childhood.  I never get tired of looking at all those exotic spices, specially tropical orchids, ruby red roses and my favourite ones: carnivorous plants!
This visit was my way to welcome Summer oficially.

So tell me darlings, how are you coping with hot weather?

  1. Well, it might be a sundress, but it's still pretty gothic, don't worry XD also you look gorgeous with ponytails :).
That first picture is so relaxing… I've never been to a botanic garden, but it looks like a really peaceful place.

    1. I had never been in a Botanic garden before neither, but I found it so relaxing that I must repeat it.
I specially recommend it if you are in the need of some anti-stress therapy.

  2. You look so cute in pigtails!
Where I live, the weather is extremely hot, with frequent and intense heat waves throughout the summer. I usually wear my hair in a bun (long hair can be a torture in extreme weather conditions) and loose clothes. No, summer is not my favourite season :-S

    1. For me it is extremely difficult to look good on hot weather (and even feel like dressing up), so I feel I am winning some selfconfidence about that now. So many thanks for your nice words, it totally cheers me up.

  3. I think you should wear this type of dresses more often as you look beautiful, same when it comes to ponytails! Very pretty, but still in your style :) I see you have garden pictures too, gardens are beautiful, arent they? :)

    1. Thank you dear, I am starting to feel some attraction to gothabilly style with the warm season, maybe there will be more 50´s dresses coming to my wardrobe soon ;)

  4. Nice weathers in Bucarest, I`m waiting sunny days! :D In eastern Finland we have had only rainy days and something +10-15 degrees over two weeks. Last sunday sun was shining maybe two hours - there`s still need for jackets. But when summer and warm days come here, I`m going to swim and go to the beach. And do something outdoors of course. ^^

    1. Oh, so sorry to hear about it! That weather sounds totally crazy for Summer. I don´t like freeze weather either, I am more the type of template person, so extremes do not work for me.

  5. Your dress is beautiful! I don't own any sundresses, and I really should. And your hair looks lovely too. The garden looks so tranquil!

    1. Thanks a lot, darling :D You should totally give sundresses a chance, specially natural fibre ones. They make a great change for you under direct sunlight.

  6. You look great and quite cool, too! Ha ha when I was all covered up in summer I probably glared at the people running around all cool in sundresses, too! I was so glad when I finally gave in and started exposing my skin a little and found I didn't burn too easily!

Venus fly traps are so cute!

    1. Well exposing skin is complicated for me too. I am covering myself on high sunscreen everyday now, but even so sun can easily burn skin. Maybe I should try sun block instead.

  8. You look pretty as always, my first thought was that I love your dress :'D But yes, it is troublesome to get dressed in this hot weather. I have been wearing shorts waaaaay more than usual this summer.

    1. I never wear shorts as I am too afraid to get easily burnt or too tanned. My skin is really sensitive to sunlight and I don´t trust nowaday´s ozone pretty much. Of course, that makes my life much more difficult in the Summer :/
