Considering my recent lack of activity here, I am quite sure it won´t be a total surprise for you if I tell that I´ve been pretty busy this month, mainly due to professional reasons. But well, that´s what adult life is made of.
Even so, I found some spare time to spend by doing things I could enjoy.
Here you have a little summary of my life lately, hope you enjoy it!
A couple of days ago I mentioned some exciting news coming on Instagram, and I can finally reveal them. I was supposed to be travelling to Spain at this point of the month, but some last minute issues made me delay my trip. This left me with a long (and potentially boring) Summer holiday in prospect. The Gentle One has been blessed with a long holiday season this year too, so we agreed it could be interesting to make some special plans. We considered different options, but did not manage to decide. Finally, we thought we could give a chance to professional advise for once and visited a travel agency on Friday.
Half an hour, a coffe and some considerations later, we left the office with a lovely and unexpected plan: exacty in a month from today, we´ll be on our way to our first long European tour. This has been on our mind for SO long (not to mention it was a forever wish on my secret list ) that we actually thought we would never be able to do it. But well, after all some dreams trully come true.
In practice this means we will visit Vienna, Prague, Dresden, Bratislava and Budapest!
It´s totally crazy, isn´t it?
Yes, I am a booky person, but you already knew that.
This month has been actually productive since I managed to enjoy two great volumes (in the case of this novel, I should remark it was literally big): The Golden Bowl by H. James, and an antology of Classic Victorian & Edwardian Ghost Stories, both published on Wordsworth Classics.
I don´t know the reason, but many people do not like to read horror stories on the warm season. I guess it has something to do with the sunlight and all that jazz. For me Gothic fiction is alluring enough, no matter when or where.
Once in a while we accidentally stumble upon some hidden treasure here in Bucharest.
This time we visited the lovely interiors of Sutu Palace, a splendid XIX century building containing the city history museum. There was something really unusual about the arquitecture and decoration on the place, specially about the giant Murano cristal mirror in the big hall. The history and atmosphere of the place are full of mistery, but I hope I will be able to tell you more on a specific post about it (in between, I beg your pardon for these very blurry pictures, our camera died and we had to manage to take them with my old mobile).
Somehow this month I´ve been shopping a bit too much considering my standard habits.
I got a couple of skirts, sundresses, cosmetics and accessories. Plus, a lovely comissioned evening gown. Lately, I´ve been feeling a couple of very specific inclinations when buying: to get iridiscent or very elegant fabrics for clothing, and as many red items as possible. Don´t ask me why, in all honesty I could not answer even under torture.
So tell me darlings, what have you been into this month?
Your trip sounds very exciting, I hope you will enjoy it :)
ResponderEliminarThank you for the good wishes, darling. I am pretty sure it will be as funny as tiring :D
EliminarYay, you'll go to the Slovakia!! :D
ResponderEliminarThat headband with roses is very cute and surely goes nicely with your black hair, you will look like a Snow White with it!:D
Yes, I am really looking forward to visit Slovakia for the first time. Little but very interesting place, I guess.
EliminarAnd many thanks for the Snow White part (blushes).
OMG your travelling plans! So great, wish you a wonderful time :D Horror tales are a 24/7 thing, not to mention about books in general!! I have my eye on the second book for quite a while now. It was a good edition?
ResponderEliminarAs a matter of fact, the edition is the kind of pocket one, but even so very well organized and full of wonderful stories. Nevertheless, there is a short story by Tackeray in the volume which is not ghostly related at all. I have no idea why is it there, but even so I really enjoyed it.
EliminarYour European Tour sounds awesome! So many beautiful cities. I too have a trip planned to Budapest, I'm off there in August. :)
ResponderEliminarOh, Budapest sounds awesome too. I´ll let you know if I have any later recommendations about the city after my trip :)
EliminarWhat a lovely month you have had! The palace looks beautiful, despite the sad history! I love the floral headband, how exciting your trips will be! I can't wait to see more of Europe! I like spooky stories but find it hard to sleep afterwards sometimes!
ResponderEliminarHahaha... I also find very difficult to go for a good sleep after reading/watching horror stories, but even so, I cannot help myself. Ghost stories are far too interesting to say no.
